Lenovo Launches New Line of Laptops and Desktops to Take on Apple’s MacBook Pro

Lenovo has introduced multiple new laptop models, including the Slim Pro 9i and the LOQ gaming laptops, as well as an updated version of their Yoga line. These models aim to challenge Apple’s MacBook Pro by offering performance, portability, and display quality.

Lenovo Slim Pro 9i

The Slim Pro 9i is Lenovo’s most high-end laptop model and aims to compete directly with the MacBook Pro. It features a miniLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, a touch layer, and up to 1,200 nits for HDR content. This display is said to match the quality of the MacBook Pro’s display.

The laptop also offers solid performance options for up to an Intel Core i9-13905H processor, 64GB of RAM, and a terabyte of storage. Furthermore, it is both thin and light with a thickness of 0.69 inches for the XDR model and 0.67 inches for the LCD option.

In terms of ports, the laptop has HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt 4, USBC 3.2 Gen 1, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, a full-size SD card slot, and a headphone jack. The Slim Pro 9i also features a high-resolution webcam and six speakers in the 16-inch version.

Lenovo LOQ Gaming Laptops

The LOQ gaming laptops are part of Lenovo’s budget-friendly gaming line that includes a choice between either a 15 or 16-inch laptop or a 17L desktop PC. The laptops feature support for up to NVIDIA RTX 4060 GPUs and have displays with variable refresh rate support between GSync and FreeSync.

Both the LOQ laptops have slightly smaller batteries than their high-end counterparts, but they’re still capable of 165Hz displays going up to 2,560 x 1,600 with 350 nits of brightness. The laptops are priced at $900, $960 and $1,150 respectively.

Lenovo Yoga Line

Lenovo’s Yoga line has been updated with the latest processors from AMD and Intel, including the latest Intel-based Yoga 7i and Ryzen 7000 CPUs in the AMD-powered Yoga 7. These two models offer up to a 2.8K OLED display.

The refreshed 14-inch Slim 7i of the Yoga line has also been powered by the latest Intel Core processors while the Slim Pro 7 has an updated version with a larger battery and better cooling, offering Ryzen 7000HS-series CPUs and up to a 3K LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Availability and Pricing

The Slim Pro 9i starts shipping in May for $1,700 and $1,800 for the XDR and LCD models, respectively. The LOQ laptops include the LOQ 15i which is expected to go on sale first sometime in April, followed by other LOQ models.

The Legion Slim 5i and Slim 7i are expected to go on sale in April with prices starting at $1,180 and $1,200 respectively. Meanwhile, the Slim 5 and Slim 7 will arrive later in May.
