The Enduring Feud of Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon Continues on Air

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week to promote their new film, “Air.” During the interview, Ben Affleck suggested that Kimmel should interview Matt Damon, who is the star of their new movie. Kimmel obliged and asked Damon a legitimate question about the movie.

Technical Difficulties and Frenemies

But during Damon’s answer, the video feed started to cut out, and he was subjected to “accidental” video filters that turned him into a hot dog. Damon and Kimmel then bantered and sniped at each other like the old frenemies that they are.

The feud between Kimmel and Damon started back in 2006 when Jimmy started a running gag targeting Matt on his latenight show. In 2008, Matt starred in a spoof music video with Jimmy’s girlfriend at the time, Sarah Silverman, called I’m F***ing Matt Damon.

Over the years, the feud has continued with both celebrities making fun of one another any chance that they get. Damon caught sight of Jimmy during the red-carpet premiere of “Air” and yelled a callback to the old joke about running out of time to take a picture with him.

A Demonstrably Bad Man

During a recent interview promoting “Air,” in which he plays Michael Jordan as he starts his partnership with Nike, Damon was asked if he would ever mend fences with Jimmy. He responded by calling him an a**hole and a demonstrably bad man.

But despite all this bad blood between them, they both posed playfully for the cameras to demonstrate their supposed feud. Of course, that is until technical difficulties marred their most recent appearance together.

The Apology

Damon became increasingly angry as Kimmel rolled out one absurd filter after another. The video feed eventually cut off, and Damon disconnected the call. Kimmel had to apologize for his behavior, the filters were accidental, and he never intended to anger Damon.

Kimmel even told Damon that he was only on the show as a gift to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, not because Kimmel wanted him there. But despite all of these disputes, the friendship between Affleck and Damon endures.

Affleck even stoked the embers of an actual feud between Kimmel and former latenight host Jay Leno. Affleck recounted an “uncomfortable” conversation in which Kimmel had with Leno and his wife at Affleck’s party. He considered it “payback” for all the shenanigans Kimmel had pulled involving him and Damon over the years.

In conclusion, despite all their public bickering, it seems that Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon will continue taking jabs at each other indefinitely. Only time will tell if they eventually decide to bury the hatchet or keep things as they are.
