Jeremy Renner speaks up about his snowplow accident recovery journey in a televised interview with Diane Sawyer

Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner had a catastrophic start to the New Year when his personal PistenBully snowplow ran him over while he was attempting to help his nephew out of the snow. The accident left him with 30-plus broken bones, a collapsed lung, and other serious injuries.

Recently, Renner sat down with veteran journalist Diane Sawyer for an hour-long interview titled “Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph.” The interview, set to air on April 6 on ABC, will give audiences an exclusive look at the actor’s near-fatal snowplow accident and his inspiring journey to recovery.

A glimpse into the accident that nearly took Renner’s life

In the teaser trailer for the interview, Sawyer plays the chilling 911 call made by one of Renner’s friends after they found him under the snowplow. Alongside that, Sawyer reads out a list of injuries Renner suffered in the accident, which includes multiple broken bones, collapsed lung, pierced liver and many more.

Renner recalls thinking about what his body would look like after being run over by the 14,330-pound machine. His personal doctor Dr. Brian Day also made an appearance in the interview and revealed that he had never seen someone survive such severe injuries before.

Renner’s road to recovery

Despite his horrific injuries, Renner remained optimistic throughout his journey to recovery. He documented much of it on his Instagram account where he shared pictures and videos of himself undergoing therapy sessions and working out.

With determination and hard work, Renner has been able to make remarkable progress since his accident. In addition to traditional physical therapy techniques like electric stimulation workouts and anti-gravity treadmill exercises, he has also been seeking unconventional methods such as Eastern medicine and meditation.

Renner’s daughter, Ava, played a significant role in his recovery as well. He posted a touching tribute to her on social media platform, where he thanked her for her love and support that helped him heal.

On-screen appearances post-accident

Renner’s interview with Sawyer comes just days ahead of his first in-person appearance since his accident at the world premiere of his new Disney+ show “Rennervations”. Renner is expected to attend the event in Los Angeles on April 11, and he’ll participate in a Q&A session with the show’s audience.

The show, which follows Renner as he renovates and redesigns homes, will also begin streaming on Disney+ on April 12.

Mechanical issues may have contributed to the accident

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained by People Magazine, mechanical issues may have contributed to the accident. Police said that Renner had improperly parked his snowplow before he was run over by it while trying to move it.

Final thoughts

For a while after his accident, it was unclear when Renner would return to the public eye. But in true Jeremy Renner fashion, he has faced adversity head-on and has emerged stronger than ever. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing him back on screen and hearing more about his remarkable journey to recovery.
