Axar Patel’s explosive knock helps Delhi Capitals post competitive total against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 match

Delhi Capitals put up a good show with the bat against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2023 encounter despite facing some early hiccups. Thanks to man-of-the-match Axar Patel’s explosive knock of 54 off just 25 balls which helped Delhi reach a competitive total of 171 for four at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

David Warner sparks the innings for Delhi Capitals

Delhi began their innings with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw at the crease but lost Shaw’s wicket early to Hrithik Shokeen’s brilliant delivery. However, Warner continued to play aggressively, hitting some fine strokes all over the park before being dismissed after scoring a well-made half-century.

Axar Patel changes the momentum for Delhi Capitals

After losing quick wickets, Delhi Capitals were in deep trouble when Axar joined Warner in the middle. The southpaw showed excellent skills and changed the momentum of the game by taking on the MI bowlers. He hit five sixes in his innings, including two inside-out maximums off Shokeen and one that hit Suryakumar Yadav on the face, forcing him off the field.

Piyush Chawla impresses for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians’ Piyush Chawla was once again impressive with the ball, taking three crucial wickets including that of Warner and Rishabh Pant. His spin partner Shokeen also bowled well, dismissing Shaw and Manish Pandey.

Jason Behrendorff restricts Delhi Capitals at the end

In the 19th over, Jason Behrendorff picked up three wickets to put brakes on Delhi Capitals’ scoring rate. The Australian pacer bowled brilliantly in the death overs and limited Delhi to 171 for four in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians’ struggle continue in IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians have had a disastrous start to their IPL 2023 campaign, losing their first two matches. The defending champions are struggling with injuries to key players including Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah, who are out with injuries.

Rohit Sharma explains Mumbai’s decision to bowl first

In the post-match presentation, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma explained that they decided to bowl first because of their poor batting performance in the last match. He also mentioned that they are facing some injury issues but they will try to turn things around in the upcoming games.

Sunil Gavaskar identifies Mumbai’s biggest problem

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, on commentary duty for the match, said Mumbai’s biggest worry is their lack of partnerships. He believes that Mumbai’s batsmen failed to build short but useful partnerships that could have helped them put up challenging targets or chase down modest ones.

In conclusion, it was a good performance by Delhi Capitals with both bat and ball. However, Mumbai Indians need to regroup quickly if they want to defend their title this season. Fans can stay updated with all the IPL 2023 updates, schedule and live cricket score by following our links.
