Baltimore Prepares for Action-Packed Weekend with Concert and Orioles Home Opener

As Baltimore, Maryland prepares for an action-packed weekend, downtown is expected to see its biggest crowds since before COVID-19 pandemic. With two major events happening simultaneously, more than 100,000 residents, workers, and fans are planning to attend. Bruce Springsteen will perform on Friday at CFG Bank Arena, marking the venue’s first concert after renovation. The same day, the Baltimore Orioles will play against the New York Yankees for their home opener. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for Baltimore this weekend.

Bruce Springsteen Concert and Orioles Home Opener

The much-awaited heritage music event is returning to Baltimore this weekend. Music fans have already started descending on Baltimore to witness “The Boss” himself perform live on Friday night at CFG Bank Arena. This will be the venue’s first-ever concert after the $250 million facelift by Oak View Group, which included adding 4,000 seats and new technology throughout the arena. Both Camden Yards and CFG Bank Arena are sold out for the events, which have a total capacity of almost 60,000 people.

However, fans should expect traffic bottlenecks and parking issues that should not deter them from experiencing arguably one of the best classic rock concerts in recent years. The Baltimore Police Department will have an increased police presence for the day, ensuring fans’ safety while entering and exiting the venue. Several city streets will be closed starting at 1 pm, including Eutaw Street and Camden Street.

Orioles Home Opener Weather Forecast

Fans attending the home opener on Friday night should carry jackets as meteorologist Dalencia Jenkins reports a cloudy and cool weather forecast for the game with temperatures around the low 60s for first pitch, gradually cooling down over time. There were a few sprinkles of rain earlier in the day, but they have moved south and will not affect the game. Temperatures will remain in the mid-50s and will be mostly cloudy throughout Saturday.

On Easter Sunday, the sun will return, starting a warming trend with temperatures gradually increasing throughout the week. By next Thursday, temperatures will climb to the 80s. As the game progresses, it may become breezy; therefore, it is recommended to bring a jacket.

Baltimore’s Easter Egg Hunts and Festivities

Baltimore has plenty of Easter festivities happening throughout the weekend. Parks and People Foundation are hosting an Easter egg hunt along with food trucks, face painting, and music. Fed Hill Park will also host an Easter egg hunt for kids where participants can bring their filled eggs or pay organizers to fill them. The Bunny Bonanzoo event happening at Maryland Zoo over the weekend is another great option for families featuring egg hunts, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and animals, crafting, carnival games, and other activities.

For those seeking less traditional activities, Ministry of Brewing is hosting a Vintage & Makers Market featuring small businesses, local makers, and vintage vendors showcasing their products. An Die Musik will feature a West African Music Show for lovers of African music.

Good Friday Concert at Lyric Baltimore

For R&B fans who want to soak up some culture before the big events on Friday night, Lyric Baltimore is hosting a Good Friday Concert featuring R&B artists.

Having two marquee events on the same day could help bring the city together and create unforgettable memories. Fans with tickets to both events can easily attend both since the arena is located just over a quarter of a mile from Camden Yards ballpark. Ticket resellers have seats available for both events at premium prices.

As businesses close early for the weekend in observance of Good Friday, downtown Baltimore is expected to witness huge throngs of people attending Springsteen’s concert and Orioles’ home opener as Baltimore embarks on a journey to revitalization.
