Coastal Bend wrestling promotion’s name to be carried at Wrestlemania

Professional wrestling’s biggest event, Wrestlemania, is just around the corner and there is a Coastal Bend connection to it. Cody Rhodes, who spent six years away from the WWE ring and wrestled at multiple venues around the world for both major and independent promotions, will be sporting the namesake of Gulf Coast Wrestling Alliance (GCWA) on a weightlifting belt he will wear to the ring at Wrestlemania along with more than a few dozen other promotions.

GCWA booked Rhodes in 2016

Corpus Christi independent wrestling promotion Gulf Coast Wrestling Alliance (GCWA) booked Rhodes in 2016. The promotion, which holds regular shows in Corpus Christi, expressed excitement in a Facebook post about being on the belt. The belt will showcase various wrestling promotions that Rhodes has worked with throughout his independent wrestling career.

Wrestlemania 39

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is hosting Wrestlemania 39, a two-night event from Sofi stadium in Los Angeles, California. Wrestlemania is considered the Super Bowl of professional wrestling and will be headlined by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his challenger, Cody Rhodes. This will be Rhodes’ first time headlining WWE’s biggest show of the year.

Chance of Rhodes returning to Corpus Christi as champion

There is a chance that Rhodes could return to Corpus Christi after Wrestlemania as the undisputed WWE Universal Champion. WWE Smackdown will hold a live taping in Corpus Christi on April 28 at the American Bank Center. If Rhodes manages to defeat Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, he would become the undisputed WWE Universal Champion and make history by winning it for an independent promotion like GCWA.

Possible new championship ideas in WWE

Cody Rhodes has won the Men’s Royal Rumble and booked a main event ticket to WrestleMania 39 where he will face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. A picture of a custom-made championship belt has gone viral on Twitter, with the design reminiscent of the ‘Winged Eagle’ WWE Championship from the 1990s. The custom-made title is not official, and there has been no official statement from WWE on the matter.

Triple H had plans to bring his favorite World Heavyweight Championship back to the main roster but was unable to do so due to Roman Reigns’ ongoing title reign. Rhodes teased the idea of a Trios Championship in WWE during a recent house show. WWE has multiple stables ruling both SmackDown and RAW, and a Trios Championship could add more hype to their fights.

Cody Rhodes considered playing a wrestler gimmick inspired by Marvel’s Tony Stark

Wrestler gimmicks can be imagined by wrestlers or the company, and sometimes they are inspired by real people or movie characters. Cody Rhodes left WWE due to dissatisfaction with his Stardust gimmick in 2016. Before leaving WWE, Rhodes worked on several projects, including a character inspired by Tony Stark.

Recently posted video on Twitter shows Cody Rhodes rehearsing a Tony Stark-inspired character before it was scrapped by WWE. The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes’ current character, is set to headline WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Title, proving that creative freedom can help any wrestler thrive in today’s wrestling world.

In conclusion, wrestling fans in Corpus Christi have something special to look forward to as Wrestlemania draws near. With Coastal Bend wrestling promotion’s name set to be carried at Wrestlemania, there is a chance that Rhodes could return as champion to Corpus Christi after the event. Also mentioned were possible new championship ideas in WWE and how wrestler gimmicks can be inspired by real-life people or movie characters. Regardless, Wrestlemania 39 promises to be a memorable event that fans won’t soon forget.
