The Golden State Warriors put on a dramatic show as they rallied to a 120-109 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans in a playoff-like matchup. The game took place on March 29th, with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green leading the way for the Warriors.
Stephen Curry had an outstanding performance, scoring a whopping 39 points with eight 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Draymond Green was also incredible, playing with intense emotions that pushed his team towards victory. He yelled not only at the other bench but also at his own team and coach Steve Kerr.
Kerr loved Green’s fire, and Green said that what he did was perfectly executed. Furthermore, Green willed the team to victory with 13 assists and a crucial alley-oop to Jonathan Kuminga for a dunk.
The Warriors are trying to avoid the play-in round, and the top six teams are guaranteed playoff berths. The Warriors moved up to sixth place in the Western Conference standings after this win, a half-game up on Minnesota and 1 1/2 games ahead of New Orleans.
In contrast, the Pelicans were riding a five-game winning streak before they met the Warriors. Brandon Ingram, Trey Murphy III, and CJ McCollum led their team in this challenging match.
Besides Curry and Green’s intensity, Klay Thompson also contributed significantly to this game. He scored 17 points and hit five 3-pointers while setting a new single-season career high of 278 – currently leading the NBA in this category.
Jordan Poole also added to the excitement by scoring 21 points with consecutive layups that gave Golden State the lead early in the fourth quarter.
The game became very testy as Green was whistled for a double technical with Brandon Ingram late in the second quarter. The referees upgraded his foul to a Flagrant 1, leading to tensions rising between both teams.
Moments later, Green committed an offensive foul, and players for both sides tangled, leading to Green getting briefly taken out of the game.
Despite tensions running high, the Warriors started the third quarter on an 8-0 burst and came back with three straight 3-pointers by Curry late in the third.
The Warriors have won 14 of their last 16 games overall in San Francisco. This win against the Pelicans was particularly impressive given what was at stake – making it all the more important in their race for a playoff spot.
In conclusion, the Golden State Warriors put on an exciting show against the New Orleans Pelicans. With Curry and Green’s intense emotions, Klay Thompson’s amazing performance, and Jordan Poole’s timely layups, they rallied together to make it another home win in San Francisco.
