With just a few weeks left in the Italian Serie A season, Lazio will be looking to secure their spot in next season’s Champions League with a win over relegation-threatened Spezia. The fixture will be held on Friday, April 13th, at the Stadio Alberto Picco in La Spezia.
Lazio is currently sitting at the second position on the league table, five points ahead of third-placed Roma. However, a loss could allow Roma to bridge the gap and move closer to Lazio’s Champions League spot.
Spezia is currently in danger of being relegated from Serie A as they sit just four points above the relegation zone. In their last 14 league games, they have only won two matches, and their last encounter against Lazio resulted in a 2-1 defeat.
Adding to their woes, several key players including Emil Holm, Julius Beck, Joao Moutinho, and Szymon Zurkowski are out injured while Simone Bastoni is unavailable due to suspension.
On the other hand, Maurizio Sarri has a fully fit Lazio team to choose from. Ciro Immobile is expected to lead the attacking line for Lazio with Mattia Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson supporting him. Elseid Hysaj is expected to start over Manuel Lazzari on the right side of the defense.
Both teams are expected to play in a 4-3-3 formation. For Spezia, Daniele Verde and Eldor Shomurodov are likely to be left on the bench while Daniel Maldini, M’Bala Nzola, and Emmanuel Gyasi are expected to lead the forward line.
The match between Spezia and Lazio will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their Premium plan, which can be tried for free for seven days. This season, Paramount+ is the only place to watch every minute of every Serie A match, along with over 2,400 soccer matches a year.
Betting expert Jon Eimer is picking Lazio to score over 1.5 goals for a 110 payout. Eimer expects a balanced attack from the visitors on their way to another Serie A victory.
Apart from the Spezia vs. Lazio encounter, there are several other European soccer matches happening on Friday. Napoli, who lead the table, will face Inter Milan while Roma will play Bologna as they try to inch closer to Lazio.
Cremonese will host Empoli in a game where both teams are struggling in the league. Osasuna will visit Rayo Vallecano with both teams hoping to secure a European competition spot. The top four teams in Spain move to the Champions League, fifth goes to Europa League, and sixth to Europa Conference League.
Schalke and Hertha Berlin will face off in a meeting of two former Bundesliga giants who are currently facing relegation. Meanwhile, Lyon will visit Toulouse in hopes of securing a Europa League spot. Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored 18 league goals this season, needs one more goal to move level with Kylian Mbappé and Jonathan David at the top of the scoring charts.
