LSU freshman guard Flau’jae Johnson is making headlines both for her impressive performances on the basketball court and her rapidly growing career as a rapper. Despite the challenges of balancing two careers, Johnson has proved that she is more than capable of excelling in both fields.
Flau’jae Johnson was born into a family with deep roots in the music industry. Her father, Jason Johnson, was a rapper who went by the stage name “Camoflauge.” Just six months before Flau’jae was born, Jason was tragically killed in a shooting. In honor of her father’s legacy, Flau’jae began pursuing music at a young age.
Johnson’s talent extends beyond rapping. As a high school student, she quickly made a name for herself as one of the top basketball players in the country. Her skills earned her McDonald’s All-American honors and even caught the attention of legendary coach Kim Mulkey, who recruited her to play at LSU.
Since joining LSU’s roster, Johnson has cemented her status as a star player. She has started every game and averaged an impressive 11 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Her talent has also earned her high-value NIL deals, making her one of the highest-earning women’s college basketball players.
In addition to her success on the court, Johnson has also been making waves as a rapper. Her music career took off when she competed on “The Rap Game” at just 12 years old and appeared as a contestant on “America’s Got Talent” at 14.
Since then, Johnson has continued to create music and build a large following. She currently has over 17,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 144,000 subscribers on YouTube. She recently released a new single titled “Big 4,” which has already gained significant traction.
Johnson’s dual careers were brought into the spotlight when she appeared on personal injury attorney Gordon McKernan’s podcast series “Grubbin’ with G.” The episode featured Johnson discussing her music career and favorite foods while dining at a local restaurant.
The podcast appearance came after McKernan signed an NIL deal with Johnson, adding her to a growing list of LSU athletes being supported by his law firm. Through the deal, Johnson is estimated to earn $669,000 annually, making her one of the most valuable players in women’s college basketball.
Despite the difficult task of balancing two careers, Johnson has proved that she is more than capable of excelling in both fields. Her achievements as a basketball player and rapper have earned her national recognition and cemented her status as a rising star in both industries. As she prepares for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Final, Johnson continues to make history both on and off the court.
