Utah State’s Efforts Fall Short in a 4-0 Loss Against San Diego State

The Utah State women’s tennis team faced a tough loss against San Diego State on 2 April, losing by a score of 4-0. In their Mountain West (MW) match, the Aggies tried their best to fight for the doubles point, but the Aztecs outscored them to take the point.

Redshirt senior Sidnee Lavatai and senior Lucy Octave won their court two doubles match in a 6-3 victory for Utah State. However, graduate student Lisa Küng and junior Naz Ozturk lost at the No. 1 doubles spot in a 7-5 loss, which gave San Diego State the doubles point.

Naz Ozturk Shines Despite The Loss

In singles play, Naz Ozturk won the first set at the No. 1 singles spot, but her match was left unfinished in the second set as San Diego State secured their fourth point. On court five, a graduate student won the second set after losing the first, but her match was also suspended before the third set began.

Utah State’s record now is 5-8 overall and 0-4 in MW play. Their next match will be against UNLV in Boise, Idaho.
