Google’s YouTube TV announced that it will offer the NFL Sunday Ticket starting from the 2023 regular season. The pricing structure has been revealed, and there are two categories of pricing available: one for YouTube TV subscribers and one for users of YouTube Primetime Channels.
YouTube TV ultimately won the bidding war for a reported $2 billion per year over seven years. For non-subscribers, the cost for the basic package starts at $349 after June 6. However, during the presale period until June 6, subscribers can get the basic package for $249.
With the new streaming service launching in 2023, subscribers will be able to watch out-of-market regular-season games aired every Sunday on both Fox and CBS. After competition entered the race with DirecTV, this is the first time that NFL Sunday Ticket will not be airing on DirecTV, which held the rights to the package prior to this.
Google holds the rights to the package for seven years and will be paying roughly $2 billion per season over the life of the deal. The announcement of a new streaming service offering this exciting addition is sure to interest football fans everywhere.
YouTube aims to introduce a greater level of clarity and simplicity with its new pricing structure for NFL Sunday Ticket, removing any restrictions on choosing an online product. However, there are no single team or game packages available.
Subscribers will be able to start mapping out their viewing plans in May when the NFL schedule is typically announced. YouTube is also conducting research to determine the right types of packages that would be interesting to users.
With the announcement of the new pricing structure, it’s clear that YouTube TV is taking an aggressive approach to compete with other streaming services. Features on YouTube TV include unlimited DVR storage, personalized recommendations, the choice to view key plays, NFL fantasy data, real-time stats and “hide spoilers,” which are sure to offer a great viewing experience for subscribers.
While direct competition in the streaming market is heating up, there’s no doubt that subscribers will welcome the opportunity to watch live games on Sundays with NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV.
