Apple has announced that their 34th annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held from June 5 to June 9, 2023. This year’s event will be a hybrid of an online-based event and an in-person experience at the Apple Park campus. The company’s commitment to helping developers create innovative apps will provide them with unique access to Apple engineers and insights into new technologies and tools to help realize their visions.
Like the previous years, WWDC23 will include online sessions and labs that will be available for free to all developers who RSVP through the Apple Developer app or website. These virtual sessions will showcase the latest advancements in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
To celebrate the occasion in person on opening day, developers and students will have an opportunity to visit Apple Park for a special experience. Attendees can watch the keynote and State of the Union presentations alongside the online community. The conference at Apple Park also includes sessions, one-on-one labs, and opportunities to engage with Apple engineers and other developers.
Space for the in-person event at Apple Park is limited due to current COVID-19 restrictions. Interested developers can apply via the Apple Developer site and app. According to Apple, access to the event is open for current Apple Developer Program members, Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni, prior Swift Student Challenge winners, and current Apple Developer Enterprise Program members.
Apple will notify attendees selected through a random lottery method on April 5 at 6:00 p.m. PT. Those who do not get selected can still participate virtually through WWDC23’s online sessions and labs.
WWDC23 is also a great opportunity to support student developers through the Swift Student Challenge. The challenge invites students from around the world to create an app playground on a topic of their choice using the Swift programming language. Submissions for the Swift Student Challenge are open until April 19, and more information can be found on the Swift Student Challenge website.
Apple will hold a keynote event on June 5 that will present iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14. Apple may also showcase new hardware announcements, including the highly anticipated AR/VR headset in development. Also, there are rumors that Apple could introduce the Mac Pro and a new 15-inch MacBook Air.
WWDC23 is an event not to be missed by developers who want to improve their skills and have access to Apple’s technologies and tools. The online format allows more developers to participate without any attendance limitations. We expect this year’s WWDC23 to be an exciting blend of in-person and virtual events that will offer something valuable for every developer interested in creating innovative apps.
