Apple TV Working on Multiview Feature for Sports Content

Multinational tech giant Apple is reportedly developing a new feature that may transform the way sports fans watch their favorite games. According to reports, the company has been working on a new four-up multiview feature for its latest iOS beta, which is similar to YouTube TV’s ‘multiview’ option that enables users to watch four sports content streams simultaneously.

Apple Focuses on Sports and Multiview Feature

Apple’s focus with the new multiview feature has been made clear; it is to target supporting sports content. The company has already invested in live sports deals with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer. The multiview feature will be integrated into the Apple TV app instead of working across Apple TV devices. End-users browsing sports content in the app may be prompted to try the multiview option.

Multiview Expected to Be Part of iOS 17 Release

While Apple has not made any official announcement about the feature, Bloomberg reported that the company’s next big software release, iOS 17, will come with several “nice-to-have” features, and multiview could be among them.

Multiview Targets Live Sports Matches on Apple TV App

The Multiview feature will offer a grid layout supporting up to four simultaneous streams at once. It is specifically targeted at sports and is a feature of the TV app rather than a systemwide video player feature. The Apple TV app already livestreams sports games like MLS Season Pass and MLB Friday Night Baseball. An error message will be shown if the user tries to add a fifth game to the grid. While there has been no official announcement from Apple regarding this Multiview feature, it may indicate an attempt by Apple to cater towards its sports-watching audience.

Upgrading Picture-in-Picture Feature for Live Sports Matches

Apple is also upgrading the capability of its Picture-in-Picture feature for live sports matches in the Apple TV app. The new “Multiview” experience will integrate with the Picture-in-Picture, supporting up to four simultaneous streams at once.

Apple’s watchOS 9.5 Beta Release

Apart from its new Multiview feature, Apple has also released a new beta build for its watchOS, version 9.5. While the article does not provide any details on the new features of watchOS 9.5, it is known that the beta release is currently only available to registered Apple developers. The build number of watchOS 9.5 beta 1 is 20T5527c.

Upgrading Apple Watch Capability with watchOS 9.5

Apple Watch can be updated to the new beta release via the Settings option or the Apple Watch companion app on an iPhone. With Apple expected to announce watchOS 10 soon, updates for watchOS 9 may become smaller in scope. It is worth noting that platform Mosyle has lent its support to this new upgrade release.

In conclusion, fans of live sports matches should keep an eye out for both Apple’s new multiview feature as well as its upgraded Picture-in-Picture feature in its TV app that supports more than one stream simultaneously while other users can anticipate the arrival of the beta build watchOS 9.5 updating their watches accordingly.
