Google has introduced a new chatbot named Bard, designed to compete with similar AI technologies such as ChatGPT. Developed by Google’s AI team, Bard uses natural language processing and machine learning to generate responses in real-time. Bard is not perfect and may make mistakes. However, it is accessible through its dedicated web page separate from Google’s regular search interface.
Bard is being tested by early adopters to provide feedback to developers and improve the AI technology. Although the chatbot is currently limited to the US and UK only, it has already generated a lot of excitement among AI enthusiasts worldwide.
To join the Bard waitlist, users must have a personal Google account and be 18 years or older. Additionally, users must have a supported web browser. Once granted access, users can ask Bard anything and receive alternative answer drafts to their questions. Users can mark responses as good or bad, copy them to the clipboard, or modify the question.
Users can provide feedback on Bard’s answers through thumbs up or thumbs down allowing Google to refine the chatbot further. The chatbot activity page shows all previous questions asked by the user, while the FAQ section provides information on sources, data collection, advertising, and more.
Google’s new development comes in line with other generative AI chatbots such as Bing, Claude+ and ChatGPT. A recent comparison between these four technologies was made when responding to prompts related to search engine optimization, website coding, content generation productivity tools, news and social media.
ChatGPT offered a purely defined answer with no sources while Bing AI provided a shorter answer with several sources and additional prompt suggestions. Google Bard gave three answers to choose from using the drafts dropdown while Claude+ offered a detailed answer with internal links.
It is worth noting that AI-generated content is not unique and may contain inaccurate information. It is essential for users to verify the information before utilizing it in any application.
