Kia has finally revealed the specifications for its latest addition to the electric vehicles family, the EV9. The full-size, three-row SUV comes with an impressive range and a host of features that will appeal to families looking for sustainable and practical transportation.
The EV9 comes in two battery options, a “standard-range” 76.1kWh battery, and a “long-range” 99.8kWh battery. Customers can also choose between a single-motor rear-wheel-drive system or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.
With the long-range rear-wheel-drive system, owners can expect up to 336 miles of range, which is quite impressive given the vehicle’s size. The all-wheel-drive system produces an even more impressive 379 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60mph in just six seconds.
The interior design of the EV9 is spacious and sustainable too. The vehicle uses recycled plastics and plant-based materials in its construction. It features two sets of captain seats in the front and a set of rear captain seats, which can pivot and swivel to face the window.
The target market for this vehicle is families, so interior space is important. The EV9 is more spacious inside than Kia’s Telluride SUV, with room for six or seven passengers depending on the second row configuration.
Kia has invested heavily in advanced safety features for the EV9. These include ultrawide band digital keys, hands-off parking and navigation-based “smart cruise control” — The EV9 also supports Highway Driving Pilot for Level 3 autonomous driving in certain situations.
Kia is working on lidar-based systems that help drivers avoid collisions while driving at high speeds. The EV9 can also tow up to 5,000 pounds while offering drivers reliable assistance and advanced safety features.
The EV9 features an 800-volt charging architecture that allows for quick charging times. In as little as fifteen minutes, the car can be charged for nearly 150 miles of range.
In addition to its impressive charging capabilities, the EV9 has vehicle-to-load technology that allows powering camping gear and laptops. A perfect feature for families who enjoy adventurous outings.
Kia released the EV9 specifications in March of 2021 and showcased the vehicle at auto shows in Seoul and New York. The vehicle is expected to hit showrooms in North America in the second half of 2023. Leaked reports suggest the pricing will range between $56k to $73k, making it an affordable choice amongst other competitors on the market.
Wrapping Up
Overall, Kia’s new EV9 electric SUV offers exceptional value for those looking for a practical and environmentally conscious transportation option. Its spacious interior, advanced safety features, and innovative charging capabilities make it stand out from other electric SUVs on the market. As more people continue to embrace sustainable transportation options, Kia is making strides with this latest release.
