Lamborghini Unveils Revuelto, its First Plug-in Hybrid Supercar

Italian luxury carmaker Lamborghini has unveiled its first-ever plug-in hybrid supercar, called the Revuelto. This new hybrid boasts a powerful V12 gasoline engine along with three electric motors, producing a total of 1,001 horsepower. The company claims that it is their most powerful and quickest road car to date, despite the addition of the electric motors.

Revuelto’s Hybrid Powertrain and Drive Modes

The Lamborghini hybrid supercar comes with a minimal EV-only range but offers huge performance. The V12 engine in the car is mounted towards the back to make room for battery packs. This allows the car to have 13 different drive modes, ranging from fully electric to high-powered aggressive track driving that employs all available power. A new mode called Città has been added as an EV-only setting for low-speed urban use.

Revuelto’s Body and Frame

The core carbon structure of the Revuelto is claimed to be lighter and stronger than that of the Aventador. The model had undergone slight modifications over the previous models due to its hybridization. The carbon fiber body panels and frame have resulted in a power-to-weight ratio of 0.26 hp/lb.

Revuelto’s Battery and Charging

The Revuelto comes equipped with a 3.8 kWh battery pack that can be charged in 30 minutes at a regular seven-kilowatt charger. In addition, these batteries can also be charged by the regenerative braking system or the V12 engine in just six minutes.

Driving Experience and Features

Lamborghini’s new creation offers an all-new infotainment system with three displays: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch central display, and a 9.1-inch display. The car also comes with a new double-clutch gearbox, which is lighter and faster than the previous models. It features semi-active wishbone suspension and active aerodynamics to keep it planted in corners.

Price and Production

The price of the Revuelto hasn’t been finalized yet, but the company has already received two years of fully ordered production. This flagship hybrid car signals a bigger vision for the Italian automaker regarding super sports cars’ shapes and proportions in the near future.

The Future of Hybrid Supercars

Lamborghini’s plug-in hybrid supercar is just the beginning of their plan to integrate electric powertrains into their range of high-performance vehicles. The company will replace their less expensive Huracán with a plugin hybrid, which promises even more improved performance. Lamborghini is also adding this technology to their luxury SUV, the Urus.

Furthermore, switching to electrification will enable them to free up floor space, which could be used to pave the way for Lamborghini’s next new model – a full-electric four-seater that will not be a traditional supercar – expected in 2028.

Lamborghini has joined the ranks of other innovative manufacturers who are applying eco-friendly technology to high-performance vehicles. With the Revuelto, the Italian automaker has demonstrated that electric power can be compatible with speed and performance without compromising on luxury or design.
