Lenovo launches new 8th-gen laptops with updated features and specs

Lenovo, the world’s largest PC maker, has launched its new line-up of 8th-gen laptops with a wide range of updated features and improved specs. The new models include refreshed Yoga and Slim-branded laptops, which come in various sizes with different processor options.

Lenovo’s Yoga and Slim-branded laptops get a refresh

Lenovo has announced the launch of several new models in its popular Yoga and Slim lines of laptops. These new models are equipped with the latest Intel and AMD chips and boast screen sizes ranging from 14 to 16 inches.

Among the ten new models listed by Lenovo, only six will be available in North America. The new Lenovo Slim Pro 9i (14.5″ Gen 8) laptop is one standout model that supports up to an Intel Core i9-13905H processor, 80-watt NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 discrete GPU, up to 64GB of LPDDR5X 6400 MHz memory, and comes with two display options. The Slim Pro 9i series prices start at $1700 for the 14.5-inch model and $1800 for the 16-inch version.

More affordable options on the way

For those seeking more affordable options, Lenovo has introduced two more models: Yoga Pro 7 and Yoga 7i. The Yoga Pro 7 supports up to an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, RTX 4050 graphics, and a $1450 starting price. The Yoga 7i, on the other hand, has options for both 15 or 28-watt Intel Raptor Lake processors and starts at $850.

The new Lenovo Slim-branded laptops come in various sizes with starting prices ranging from $850 to $1800. Most of these models are expected to be shipped to customers in North America in April or May.

Updated features and improved specs

Lenovo has revised not only its Slim and Yoga lines but also introduced midtier LOQ gaming laptops. The Slim Pro 9i offers a miniLED 3K display on both 14.5- and 16-inch models, with improved contrast and 100% coverage of color spaces.

The Slim Pro 9i supports up to a 13th gen Intel Core i9 H-series processor, 64GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It also has Dolby Atmos speakers and Thunderbolt 4 ports. The Lenovo Slim Pro 7 has also been updated, featuring improved battery life and cooling, and a 3K LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will start at $1,200.

Budget-friendly gaming laptops

Lenovo has also introduced new budget-friendly gaming laptops as part of its LOQ line. This includes a 15 or 16-inch laptop and a 17L desktop PC. Prices start at $900 for the LOQ 15 and $960 for the LOQ 16.

The new machines have a plastic body, white or four-zone RGB backlit keyboard, and slightly smaller batteries than the Legion line. The laptops offer support for up to NVIDIA RTX 4060 GPUs, with displays of up to 165Hz refresh rate going up to 2,560 x 1,600 with variable refresh rate support and up to 350 nits of brightness.

Powerful and portable options

For those looking for more powerful and portable options, the Legion Slim 7/7i and the Slim 5/5i are here. The Legion Slim 7/7i is only .78 inches thick and weighs just over four pounds. It boasts Intel Core i9-13900H or Ryzen 9 79040HS chips, up to NVIDIA RTX 4070 graphics, and optional per-key RGB lighting, along with a big 99.9 WHr battery.

The Legion 5 Slim models feature the same CPUs and a slightly wider range of graphics options than the 7 Slim. They come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.

Availability and pricing

The new LOQ 15i will be available in April, followed by LOQ 15 and LOQ 16i in May, and LOQ 16 in June. The Legion Slim 5i and 7i will be available in April starting at $1,350 and $1,770, respectively. The Slim 5 and 7 are expected to arrive later in May, starting at $1,200 and $1,770, respectively.

In conclusion, Lenovo’s new line-up of laptops covers a wide range of options for different budgets and needs. From gaming laptops to powerful workstations and portable options, Lenovo has something for everyone. With updated features and improved specs, these new models are sure to impress both existing Lenovo users as well as first-time buyers.
