Severe weather warnings across multiple states cause power outages, damage and evacuations.

Severe weather warning in Kentucky and Indiana

Several counties in Kentucky and Indiana were issued severe weather warnings as a result of strong winds, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and other severe weather conditions. A special weather statement was issued for Frankfort, Shelbyville, and Middletown due to strong winds, while over 5,600 power outages were reported in Jefferson County, from Hurstbourne to Middletown.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for Clark County, Floyd County in Indiana, Carroll, Oldham, Shelby, Trimble, Henry, Jefferson countries in Kentucky. Owensboro and the northern part of Breckinridge County in Kentucky and Perry County in Indiana were issued with a tornado warning. A tornado watch was also announced for Louisville and western counties until 3 am.

The most significant threat for severe storms is expected between 10 pm and 2 am. The Governor urged people in western Kentucky to seek shelter by 5 pm CDT. Gusty winds are expected to continue on Saturday with wind gusts up to 40-50 mph, with a wind advisory in effect for the region.

Severe weather and tornadoes hit parts of Iowa

In Iowa, a strong storm front brought tornadoes that caused extensive damage to homes and buildings in eastern parts of the state. The towns of Coralville and Hills experienced considerable damage while Charlotte town was partially evacuated due to a propane leak.

Blizzard conditions were expected for northwestern and north-central Iowa while Coralville set up an emergency shelter for those displaced by the storm. Hundreds of residents came forward to help those affected by the disaster after the storm.

While Des Moines escaped severe weather conditions, gusty winds were still expected throughout Iowa. Several areas such as De Witt, Preston Charlotte, and Manchester were issued with tornado warnings. A tornado watch was also issued for parts of central and eastern Iowa, including Des Moines, Ames, and Iowa City.

Tennessee and Kentucky also experienced severe weather warnings as a tornado watch was issued for multiple counties while a tornado warning was declared for several others. Strong to severe thunderstorms moved from west to east with the severe threat window in Middle Tennessee until 3 am.

Damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes were expected, while a wind advisory was announced, with non-thunderstorm wind gusts near or over 40 mph. The Weekend weather was predicted to be windy but mild on Saturday while Sunday would see fewer winds but still remain in the 60s.

The weather app is available for alerts and custom videos about weather conditions while unsettled weather is expected to return next week, with temperatures forecasted to reach the 70s and possibly 80s along with showers and storms each day.

In summary, these multiple states are experiencing severe weather conditions that cause damage, evacuations, and power outages. Residents are advised to heed warnings, evacuate when necessary, and take precautions to stay safe during this severe weather outbreak.
