Pope Francis’ Return after Hospitalization
Pope Francis presided over the Palm Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square after recovering from bronchitis. The tens of thousands of faithful who attended the service were delighted to see him, and many had worried about his health after his hospitalization. The mass was one of the longest services on the Church’s calendar, but even though Pope Francis was seated under a canopy and wore red vestments over his coat, he seemed energetic.

He deviated from his prepared speech to talk about a homeless German man who recently died under the colonnade circling St. Peter’s Square.
